Chapter 3 Dream Invitation

Liana leaned down, kissed Nolin on the forehead, and said, "Get up! It's your birthday today, and your dad skipped work all day to be with you."

"Thank you, Dad." Nolin rubbed his eyes with great difficulty, but a happy smile appeared on his face.

"Let's go, let's go out and play after breakfast." Justin touched Nolin's messy hair and walked out of the room.

Nolin started to wash up in high spirits. It was not important to go out for fun. He wanted to greet the long-awaited good news with the most energetic attitude.

Liana had already prepared breakfast when she came downstairs. Nolin sat down at the dining table, picked up a piece of steaming egg and ham sandwich, and ate it absentmindedly.

"Ding dong!" The doorbell rang suddenly.

Nolin almost jumped up from his chair when he heard the sound, shouted "I'll open it" and ran towards the door, leaving the couple looking at each other.

"Happy birthday Nolin!" The door opened, and Harry came into Nolin's eyes with a blessing smile.

"It's you, Harry." Nolin deflated like a punctured ball, and managed a smile, "Thanks. Come in and play for a while."

"No, no, I have to go back soon." Harry waved his hands repeatedly, took out something from behind and handed it to Nolin, "Here, a birthday present!"

Nolin took it. This is a small wooden sword, not very well made, but the words "Happy Birthday Nolin" crookedly engraved on the handle show the painstaking efforts of the maker.

Harry scratched his head and said a little embarrassedly: "I have no money, so I can only make a small thing for you."

Nolin was slightly moved by this boy again. He looked into Harry's eyes and thanked him again seriously.

"Who is it?" After sending Harry away, Lianna looked at the small wooden sword in Nolin's hand who came back and asked curiously.

"Harry." Nolin replied casually and put the wooden sword on the table, planning to put it away carefully later.

"Oh, that little pitiful one." Liana felt a little distressed when she heard this. All the neighbors in Privet Drive disliked the thin boy, thinking he was slovenly, acted strangely and smelled like cabbage. Only the Davis family knew how much he had suffered at the Dursleys'. But as neighbors, they had no choice but to give him some warmth as much as they could.

Justin took out three coupon-like papers and put them on the table, peeled an egg, and said with some pride: "Look, one of my clients gave me an amusement park admission ticket. Let's go there first later. "

The corners of Nolin's mouth twitched. He was already past the age of going to the amusement park. But looking at his happy parents, he took it easy. As long as they are happy.

"Ding dong!" The doorbell rang again.

Nolin wanted to open the door again, but Liana pushed him down on the chair and said softly, "I'll go."

Lianna hummed a little tune and opened the door briskly, only to find that there was no one in front of the door. Her eyes suddenly froze, staring at the black owl fluttering not far away. She lowered her head and saw an envelope lying quietly at her feet.

"Hogwarts...as expected." Lianna murmured softly. She picked up the envelope and looked at the iconic Hogwarts mark on it. A storm seemed to be gathering in her eyes, and countless pictures flashed through her eyes in sequence. Lianna was silent for a while, then laughed in relief.

"Little Nolin, your school seems to have been settled!" Liana took the envelope and walked back briskly, watching Nolin raise the letter in his hand.

Nolin's heart skipped a beat. He knew the long-awaited letter had finally arrived, but it looked like his mother knew. How...how did she know? Could it be?

He took the envelope and addressed it clearly: Mr Nolin Davis, 2nd Floor, 3 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey. The envelope was made of heavy parchment, the address was written in emerald green ink, and there was no stamp. Nolin turned the envelope over and saw a wax seal, a shield, and a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.

Nolin felt his heart trembling. But he still pretended not to know and opened the envelope with a blank look on his face.

Albus Dumbledore (President of the International Federation of Magic, President of the Wizards Association, First Class Wizard of the Order of Merlin)

Dear Mr. Noreen Davis:

We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Attached is a list of required books and equipment. The semester is scheduled to begin on September 1st. We will be waiting for your owl to bring your reply before July 31st.

Sincerely, Vice-Principal (Female) Minerva McGonagall

"Magic school...what does it mean?" Nolin raised his head and saidStaring at Lianna in confusion. In the corner of his eye, his father Justin's expression looked strange and complicated.

"Magic school is, of course, a school that teaches how to use magic!" Liana looked at her son and explained easily, "In this world, there is a special kind of people. They are called wizards, or magicians. . And talent is a necessary condition for becoming a wizard. Little Nolin, do you still remember when you were eight years old?

"You mean..." Nolin's heart was filled with turmoil. Of course he was aware of the rampage of magic when he was eight years old. What made him uneasy was that his mother Lianna's tone proved that she was also a wizard!  But, how come I have never seen her use the wizard's abilities in all these years? "Yes, you almost burned down an entire garden back then. This phenomenon is called magic rampage, and it is the clearest proof of a wizard's talent. Now, you have two choices, whether to go to a magic school or go Eton College?" Liana's expression gradually became serious, this decision is related to Nolin's future.

Nolin's mind was a little confused. He turned his head and saw his father's supportive eyes.

"Little Nolin, whether it's the magic school your mother said or Eton College, follow your heart and choose. Dad will always support you." Justin quickly calmed down his emotions, smiled and rubbed Nolin's hair. .

Nolin nodded speciously. He was not in a hurry to answer this question, even though he had the answer to it ten years ago. He looked at Liana and asked: "Mom, are you also a wizard? Why have I never seen you use magic?"

The sadness on Liana's face flashed away. She glanced at her husband beside her and smiled like a flower: "Well...for some reasons, mom is prohibited from using magic. Otherwise, mom is very powerful!"

Some reasons? Nolin was thoughtful. He asked again: "Is dad also a wizard?"

"Unfortunately, I'm not." Justin shrugged. He put his arm around Lianna's shoulders and stroked her hair lovingly, "But it's enough that your mother is, isn't it?"

Dad is a Muggle...then some of the reasons mom mentioned may come from this. Nolin thought to himself, took a breath, and said seriously: "I'm going to Hog... By the way, mom, where is Hogwarts?"

"You won't know until you go there." Liana smiled mysteriously, "Hogwarts is one of the three top magic schools in Europe and the greatest magic school in the world."

"Then I've decided. I want to be a magician." Nolin took a deep breath and said seriously.

Liana did not speak, but just stared at him for a moment with a complex look flashing in his eyes that Nolin had never seen before. After a while, she nodded. Now that she has made a decision, she will support it all the way to the end. She found an envelope from the cabinet, quickly wrote a letter and stuffed it into it. She took the letter and walked out the door. Nolin's heart moved and she followed her.

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant. Lianna waved to an owl not far away, and the black owl flew silently. Liana tied the letter to its paw, patted its little head affectionately, and whispered something beside it. Soon, the black owl spread its wings and flew into the distance.

Nolin stood looking up at the sky, watching the owl carrying his dream fly into the sky, leaving only a smaller and smaller black dot, and finally disappeared without a trace.
